  • Self-compassion Heals Burnout

As a psychologist, I view healing from burnout as a deliberate, compassionate process of restoring balance and rediscovering purpose.

Burnout, marked by emotional exhaustion, cynicism (usually regarding work), and diminished efficacy, often stems from chronic stress and overworking.

Recovery begins with self-awareness: Acknowledging the signs without judgment. Setting boundaries is then crucial; saying "no" to excessive demands preserves energy for self-care. Restorative practices, like mindfulness, meditation, yoga, massage, or gentle exercise, help reconnect mind and body, while adequate sleep and nutrition rebuild resilience. Social support - whether from loved ones or therapy - provides a safe space to process feelings.

Healing isn’t linear; it requires patience and self-compassion. There are ups and downs. When we accept them and roll with them, we regain our energy!
