Perfectionism has two layers. Understanding both is crucial in healing from perfectionism.
The first layer is what you see on the outside, on the surface: Trying to do everything perfectly all the time, overworking, people-pleasing, self-sacrificing, etc.
The second layer is a lot more important: The personality structure that is often rooted in some form of childhood trauma that brings about the obsession with perfectionism. This structure needs to be rebuilt so that we're going for "good enough" instead of perfect.
Perfect is impossible, good enough is our essence!
