  • The 2-minute Rule

ADHD is hard to deal with. Luckily, we have many behavioral tools we can use to make it better. One of them is what I call the "2 minute rule" technique.

First, get a small notebook or a list on your phone or tablet. Second, write down every single random task, idea, or worry there, the second they come ("I should do my laundry today", "I need to pay my bills today", "I have to answer that email today", etc.)

Don't just say, "Oh, I'll remember later". Write down every little task or worry that comes to your mind. Now here's the next part:

If what you wrote takes less than only two minutes, do it right now and delete it off your list. If it takes longer, leave it on your list. The rule is simple: if it takes less than two minutes, do it now.

Research shows that this technique helps people with ADHD organize their thoughts and tasks much better than just "being in their heads" all the time. This is a way to take control of the chaos that's in your mind, and get the quickest and simplest things out of the way consistently.

Of course, if you need professional help with ADHD, remember that I'm here for you!
